I hope this will be a place for us to get to
know one another. It’s as close as I can come to asking you to sit
at my kitchen table for a slice of Bee’s mocha honey cake or Charlie
Anne’s vinegar pie.
There are pictures here of the sheep our family keeps as pets, the
outhouse (unused!) which was the inspiration for Esther in Tending
to Grace, the spot by our barn where my daughters held the chicken
races that made Mirabel so angry in The Wonder of Charlie Anne and
the quiet country road where I run – and where I decided to make Bee
a runner, too.
I hope you enjoy my books and that you will write and tell me a
little about yourself. As Bee says in Beholding Bee (and in The
Daring Escape of Beatrice and Peabody) “Life is just full of
surprises.” And often the most wonderful surprise is a new friend.
Enjoy!
